Every year in D.C. around the end of March/beginning of April the weather gets wonderful, school gets close to being finished and the cherry blossoms begin to bloom. On Friday Aimee had a teacher work day so she came into D.C. and picked my up at my office after I got off work and took me to see the blossoms. The reason the tidal basin is surround by cherry trees is because in 1912 Japan donated the trees to the U.S. in an effort to enhance the growing friendship between the countries and also celebrate the continued close relationship between the two nations.

It has been raining a lot for the last week. Normally there is a side walk and a retaining wall behind me but the Potomac river is so high it is completely over both! In the background you can see the Jefferson Monument.
Aimee sitting next to Mr. George Mason - her pink jacket looked great with all the beautiful blossoms!

Aimee with a row of cherry blossoms and the Washington monument in the background we were a little worried it was going to rain on us but we were lucky and the storm clouds kept on going right past us.

These guys were really good and were getting a ton of tips! If Elisa or Marianna are ever a little strapped for cash this may be a good way to make a little extra.

These pictures really can not capture how beautiful it was - there were a lot of people out and about as you can see if you look closely at all the people on the steps.
