Here is a short update of some of the things we have been doing lately. Aimee has been enjoying her summer vacation by sleeping late, planning fun dates/outings and studying for the Math Subject GRE (that part is not as fun!). I have been working and have really been enjoying the projects I am working on. Not having homework on nights and weekends has resulting in our having a lot more time to visit fun places and basically just vacation! Here are a few of our most recent adventures:

We visited the Old Post Office building. On the top floor there is an AMAZING view of DC. The Old Post Office building tower is the 3rd tallest building in DC after the Washington Monument and the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception. It was fun to see all the prominent Washington landmarks and all the rooftop plazas with trees and grass.

One weekend we went to visit our new Niece Paige in Kentucky. I think Aimee wanted to take her home. She was born on July 2, 2009 and weighed 7 lbs. and 7 oz.
While we were in Kentucky Aimee got a little taste of what it is like to be the mother of 3 small children under the age of 4. As you can see it is a lot of work. As much as we love our nieces and nephew we are amazed at how much work it must be to raise them! Stacie has her hands full!
We visited the National Cathedral and got a few amazing shots! It is such a beautiful and majestic building. We didn't get to visit the inside on this trip but we have taken a tour before. It really takes your breath away!
Aimee got a NEW haircut! She cut almost 5 inches off! She wanted it to be a surprise for when I got home from work - but she used the debit card rather than her credit card to pay for it and, since I was watching for a check to come through our checking account, I noticed a strange charge to a hair salon that tipped me off. I think it looks great!
We got drenched in rain when we visited the Rock Creek Park in Maryland. We had 5 Guys Burgers on the way there (probably my favorite burger place) but got soaking wet. It was really fun though. We were at a picnic table just before it started to rain. There were lots of fireflies and the temperature was perfect. Then the wind started blowing and we looked across the lake we were at. At the far edge we saw this line of rain. As we watched it got closer and closer as the wind blew it towards us. Just before the rain hit we started running for the car but 15 seconds in the got as much water on us as if a bucket full had been poured on our heads! It doesn't rain like this in Utah!
We also watched the fireworks from the National Mall on the 4th of July. It was an amazing show but the metro how was aweful!
It has been a fun Summer!
