Last weekend we decided to get out of the DC area one last time before Aimee's school started and we went to visit Hershey Park in Hershey, Pennsylvania. As the name suggests the town is home to the Hershey's Chocolate Factory. The entire town was built around the factory, as it was (and probably still is) the largest employer in the city. It was fun to see the process the factory uses to make chocolate and other candies.
Here we are in front of the visitor's center. Above the entrance you can see the shameless marketing by Hershey's.
Here is a picture from early in the chocolate making process. You can see the cocoa beans coming out of the cooking oven and on their way to be ground up to make chocolate.
This machine is really cool. After the chocolate is in a liquid form it is dropped onto this machine where it is quickly cooled to make the "kiss" shape. It is amazing how quickly they are made.
We also visited the amusement park portion of the park. We didn't take our camera into the park because we didn't want to lose it or get it wet but here is a map of the park. Some of the roller coasters were pretty intense.

oh yum. how cool. my mouth just started watering. i miss hershey's.
