NYC

Drew finished the bar exam a week and a half ago so this past weekend we celebrated with a quick trip to New York City. We packed a lot into two days, and we walked so much that I really thought I might have to spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair! Surprisingly my legs have recovered now. Here are some of the things we did:
We ate delicious pizza as soon as we got there because we were starving!

We explored Central Park.

We saw lots of crazy roller skaters there.

We went to the top of the Rockefeller Center and saw some beautiful views of the city at sunset.

We wandered around Times Square.

 

Then we walked back to our hotel and had a sound night’s sleep! Here is where we stayed. We were a little disappointed to find that our room was on the 6^th floor because we live higher than that, and we had a terrible view, but other than that the hotel was very nice.

In the morning we had delicious bagels for breakfast and then headed out to go for a ride on one of these:

We also saw Ellis Island but we didn’t take any good pictures and were only there for a little bit.

There was a nice view of the city from Liberty Island.

We rode the ferry back to Manhattan and wandered around the financial district where we saw this little creature:

He is VERY popular. There were throngs of tourists fighting for a little bit of space on a narrow median in the middle of a busy road just to get a picture.

Then we took a peek at the sight of the World Trade Center, which now looks like a construction sight.   We saw some pictures of the skyline before the towers fell down and it looks very different now.  I can’t imagine what it must have been like. We didn’t feel like braving the masses of people in the memorial center, but Drew consoled himself with an ice cream cone.

Next we walked across the Brooklyn Bridge (along with about 10 billion other people both on foot and bicycle).

Then it was time to make our way to our bus for the ride home. We were in a big hurry to grab some food and make it to our bus on time. After leaving the food court we realized we had left our water so Drew ran back to get it, and then we hurried to our bus stop where we waited for an hour for our bus to come. So much for the rush! The ride home was uneventful and we were glad to be back in DC which now feels very clean and spacious!
